  1. So, the Mitigwa blog is off and running. Congrats to our administrator! I have a page on my personal website where you can view some archival photos:

I have a few more, but I don't see a way to post photos here, so they'll have to wait until I can get them up on my Mitigwa page.

  2. Hi, I went to Mitigwa for four weeks, two summers in a row. I think they were 71-72, but I could be off by a year either way. I have a picture or two somewhere. I'll try to scan and upload later.

  3. 1956 was a great time to go to a great camp.
Cabin Counselor was George his name forgotten but he was full Maine Guide.
We were located on Browns Pond, later we went out to the lake Rangely for my 14th birthday.
I think that the cost was $500.00 for six weeks!!!

  4. Hey, Perk. Just saw your comment and thought I'd let you know I also had George Morse as my counselor for two of my three summers at Mitigwa (1955-57). I have a number of photos on my website, as well as downloadable version of the camp brochure. Here's the link:

    1. Okay, I guess I'm catching up with your kind offer about five years after you posted it. If you're still game, I'd love to have the photos with captions. If you go to my main Mitigwa page...

...you'll find an email link at the very bottom. Drop me a note -- and remind me where we connected. Thanks!

  8. I was not a camper at Camp Mitigwa but I own the last remaining building in it's original location, the rec hall which used to be the boat house. My parents purchased it on a half acre with 100ft of waterfront in the fall of 1973. We have made it our camp and enjoy it very much. We still have a piece of the background from the stage that was painted with flowers. We also have a piece of wood with names and dates on it from the 40's and 50's. The rest of the property was sold to Herbert Mannsman of Philadelphia. They built 2 camps on the property. They, in turn gave an acre to John Wetzel, who also built a camp. The old tennis court are totally overgrown with trees and the ball field is still relatively open, a great place to get blueberries. We were friends of Don Gray and family. Don was Franklin's son. Franklin owned the camp way back. There are still large group photos of some of the Camp Mitigwa "classes" hanging on the walls in the Gray Gables camp buildings down the road. That big fireplace still stands where the mess hall used to be. We actually have some of the green plastic dishes! Some of the old bunk houses were sold and can still be seen in the area. One is used as a warming hut on Burnham's hill nearby for cross country skiers. Dodge Pond is still a great place to spend vacation time. Camp Mitigwa's last year was 1972, 48 years ago! Jeff Dean
